In this three part series, sports photographer Matt Hernandez (@MattHernandez) teaches the process he used to create a composite of Tennessee Titans strong safety George Wilson from original location photography to finished composite.
Step 1: Extract the Subject
Matt uses the pen tool mainly, but also covers how to capture some of the tricky details, such as extracting hair.
Step 2: Create and Prepare the Background
Here, Matt covers the preparation of the background as well as replacing the sky.
Step 3: Final Compositing
Matt covers the blending of the two images into one, painting in shadows, dodging and burning, and finishing the composite off.
